contemplating adding a few blooms on this one...

For Baby Jack

For our new baby nephew Jack - a reversible mini-quilt for snuggling and slurping. Actual size is about 10 inches square. I am still having trouble deciding wether I am really finished with this one. I could go on adding little stitches forever -

More of the Blues

I was wanting so badly to squeeze in a post last time that I took a photo after dark with the flash and blew out all the details.

This one is much better - taken in natural lighting with the afternoon sun. A detail of the same piece in the previous two posts, still cutting away at the little circles. I am thoroughly enjoying this technique - slowly snipping away the circles to reveal the blue. I do not plan to stitch the raw edges closed on the circles, at least not all of them...

The machine stitching was so much fun too - it is getting easier to make smaller shapes. I believe this is called "stippling".

This detail is about 5" across. Hoping I can figure out how to finish the bottom edge in such a way that I can keep the lovely little frayed line.

Progress in Pale Blue

Finished stitching for now, just started cutting to reveal a bit of the blue. Size of top layer of beige is about 16" W X 12" H.

Several people had told me they have been unable to post comments - I think I have fixed it.

Will Be Blue Flowers...

This is the beginning of a small art quilt. I have been thinking more lately of piecework, so there is a little of that. Planning to also cut away a bit of the neutrals to reveal a bit of the blue after a bit of machine quilting to hold things in place.

And although it may be difficult to tell from the blog (not even close to almost every day) the idea of keeping a blog has been successful as far as motivating me. I am thinking and working on bits and pieces much more often - which it turns out makes it difficult to also have time to keep up a blog. : )

I plan to clean and organize my sewing room (again) this afternoon in hopes of working more efficiently in an uncluttered space.
